Job Duties: Carry out lead scientific responsibilities focused on formulation development for purposes of ANDA filings, in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws. Operate general analytical laboratory instruments during formulation development such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), dissolution testing, Brookfield viscometer, particle size analyzer, and Infrared (IR). Work on novel drug delivery systems (e.g. transdermal, topical, oral, sublingual, and nasal products). Perform in-vitro skin flux testing to evaluate drug permeation and penetration utilizing Franz Diffusion cells for topical and transdermal drug delivery systems. Prepare standard and sample chemical and pharmaceutical solutions as required by test methods. Perform all necessary calculations associated with the test analyses. Label, transcribe, and record documentation, as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Clean and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure compliance with Current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). Write formulation and scale-up related reports. Perform complex investigations as necessary. Participate as a technical advisor as required on third party projects. Ensure project deadlines and performance standards are established and met. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related field. Plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or 1 year in a related occupation including Formulation Scientist or related biopharmaceutical experience. Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of progressive experience in lieu of the required education and experience. Position requires 1 year of experience with formulation development, HPLC, and Brookfield viscometer. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein. 40hrs/week.
