Teva has a Material Handler Lead position available at our Gurnee, IL location.   We are looking for candidates with a strong working knowledge of loading trucks and processing shipping paperwork in a fast paced and ever changing environment.


This position is 1st shift  (M-F 8:30AM - 5PM).


Summary: Under close supervision, assists the Supervisor by delegating tasks to other employees to facilitate a consistent workflow and ensure tasks are prioritized accordingly.

  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
  • Assists in training new employees, reviewing documentation for accuracy and troubleshoots complex problems.
  • Complies with all SOP’s, cGMP’s, company policies and procedures, and also makes sure other employees do the same.
  • Coordinates daily departmental activities as outlined by the department Supervisor.
  • Monitors daily processes and troubleshoots complex problems.
  • Performs any of the tasks associated with Material Handler I or Material Handler II as necessary.
  • Performs transactions as necessary in the ERP system and is responsible for 100% transactional integrity.
  • Physically handles movement of materials to support timeliness of materials delivered to manufacturing.
  • Provides guidance and training to employees and provides work directions to lower level positions.
  • Requires the use of various types of material handling equipment to include: swing reach forklifts, electric pallet jacks, electric order pickers, and sit down as well as stand up forklifts.
  • Takes initiative and requires very little direction and follow-up from the Supervisor.
  • Transacts systematically any functions performed as they occur to maintain a high level of inventory integrity.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, and minimum of six (6) or more years experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or food industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience in Manhatten Warehouse Management Software.

 Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching, climbing and walking, twisting of upper body and neck, vision to monitor, lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to +50 pounds. Contact with electrical equipment such as forklifts on a daily basis. Must be able to withstand heights of +30 feet while traveling in a swing reach forklift. Contact with fluctuating changes in temperature several times a month. Hearing / listening along with verbal communication required on a daily basis.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Business and personal computer hardware and software applications.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Experience or knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with JD Edwards operating system or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with multiple types of material handling equipment.
  • Experience with wireless radio frequency handheld devices.
  • Previous experience in supervisory capacity.
  • Prior experience with pharmaceutical material handling or equivalent industry.
  • Current Company policies and practices, including safety rules and regulations

  • Ability to read, write and understand documentation in English.

  • Surpassing the Performance level scores for the Work Keys exams.
