Under close supervision, a Material Handler performs duties necessary for compliant receipt, storage and customer order processing of finished goods, raw materials, supplies and completing inspections and packaging of customer orders prior to shipping, including controlled substances.

 

This position is 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30PM) at our Gurnee, IL location.

Responsibilities

 

Essential Job Functions: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a

required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific

tasks.

  • Performs basic pick, pack and check functions in ensure customer order accuracy prior to shipment, as directed in both the controlled and non-controlled substance areas of the distribution center.
  • Consistently utilizes Radio Frequency (RF) scanning devices, desktop or laptop computers to complete basic pick, pack, check and put away tasks.
  • As assigned, supports good receipt verification and put away functions. Applies the proper labeling in preparation for put away of goods.
  • Perform cycle counts and/or daily inventories in specified areas, as instructed.
  • Communicates the completion of tasks to the respective supervisor preparing for reassignment.
  • Maintains a consistent high level of accuracy when performing job functions.
  • Maintains appropriate DEA clearance, in order to work in controlled substance area.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedure and state, federal and local laws.
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved; receives, opens and stores incoming materials and components; and maintains inventory of materials, components or supplies.
  • Loads, unloads and packs materials on to or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves and conveyor system by hand or packaging equipment; secures product in cartons using fillermaterial and sealing tape.
  • Organizes raw materials into manufacturer; organizes materials remaining at the completion of each job.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet or manifest entry; attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Operates industrial truck, electric hoist or pallet jack to assist in loading or moving materials and products; lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist; cleans work area,machines, and equipment; makes simple adjustments or repairs.
  • Verifies components against work order to insure correct part and lot numbers.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety, OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to operate fork truck and material handling equipment safely.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Experience:  High school diploma or GED plus two or more years’ experience in a warehouse or manufacturing facility; Warehouse or Distribution background preferred.

 

Proficiency in both reading/writing and speaking English is required in order to ensure safe and efficient operations at the site.

 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Subject to extended periods of sitting,

walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, and pulling reaching, moving and lifting

up to 50 lbs., visual acuity to monitor, read, physically using packaging and other production

equipment. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with potential exposure to the

antibiotics penicillin and cephalosporin and varying noise levels depending upon machinery.
