This Packaging Mechanic has a good working knowledge of all aspects of the packaging equipment and line integration for both blistering and bottling operations. This position requires good troubleshooting and problem solving skills, the ability to work independently and also the ability to take direction. The packaging mechanic will specialize in customer service, on-time response to non-routine maintenance activities, and on-time execution of preventive maintenance.
SHIFT - Weekends Friday through Sunday from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assembly, adjusting, and reactive troubleshooting of high speed/PLC-based blistering, bottling, feeding, pouching, labeling, cartoning, and case packing equipment
Perform pro-active troubleshooting and repairs to reduce equipment downtime and increase equipment reliability
Leads and supports continuous improvement/lean initiatives to improve overall equipment effectiveness
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on all equipment and systems in order to maximize facility up time and equipment availability
Initiates purchase requisitions for materials used in repair, PM, or consumed during the performance of duties
Initiates, processes, and closes routine and non-routine work orders using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Reads and interprets mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings and schematics to troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment
Creates preventive maintenance activities and schedules, equipment procedures and equipment settings and troubleshooting guides
Provides clear descriptions of equipment issues to team members to prevent duplicate occurrences
Trains line technicians on the correct settings, adjustments, and operation of packaging equipment
Assures compliance with GMPs, CFR, and FDA regulations
Follows approved safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Associates or Technical Degree; Professional Certification
5 years of working experience in a maintenance individual contributor capacity. Technical Training and/or working experience in a trade will be considered
Minimum of 3 - 5 years pharmaceutical packaging experience; 1-3 years in leadership capacity
Proficient technical and attention to detail skills.
Strong Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Demonstrates the ability to lead in a team based culture and with company personnel from all levels.
Ability to handle and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Specialized or Technical knowledge, licenses, certifications needed:
Proficient in basic computer applications including MS Office and internet tools. Willingness to develop proficiency in CMMS.
Understanding IPC and peripheral device connectivity communication skills highly desirable
PLC, ELAU,and Profibus, diagnostic skills highly desirable
Required to occasionally wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses, powered air purifying respirator, gloves, etc.
May be required to stand for prolonged periods of time while performing tasks.
Occasionally lifting or moving heavy objects up to 50 pounds; working at heights from lifts or ladders while wearing fall protection equipment; bending, crawling, stooping.
