Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant has two primary responsibilities; providing Canadian accounting support and managing US compliance of unclaimed property.


The accounting support responsibility is primarily focused on the Canadian compensation & benefits accounting. This includes the preparation of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and related account analyses. Other responsibilities include providing accounting support to the Canada’s Sales and Marketing finance group and managing the Canadian intercompany shared services accounting activities.  To be successful in this position, monthly, quarterly, and year end close activities must be completed timely and accurately to ensure compliance with corporate deadlines.


Manage the unclaimed property compliance process with minimal supervision while maintaining the highest levels of quality, reliability, and accuracy. Responsible for unclaimed property reporting, annual state filings, payment requests, account reconciliations, and state audits.


Travel Requirements



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly compensation and benefits account reconciliations and review supporting details to ensure proper recording of transactions to general ledger. (25%)
  • Review and analyze ADP payroll support for completeness and accuracy. Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and related accruals. (10%)
  • Manage Canada’s intercompany shared services accounting, which includes processing intercompany shared services invoices and billing intercompany shared services activities to various TEVA legal entities. (10%)
  • Maintain and compile reports of funds to be escheated to the state as unclaimed property while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and completeness. Reconcile unclaimed property G/L Accounts. (10%)
  • Work closely with 3rd party vendors to prepare annual state filings of funds to be escheated and related payment requests. Ensure compliance with unclaimed property state regulations and internal policies and procedures. Lead liaison with the unclaimed property state auditors. (10%)
  • Work closely with the payroll department to investigate and resolve outstanding payroll related issues. (5%)
  • Prepare other compensation and benefits journal entries as needed. (5%)
  • On a quarterly basis, review and analyze P&L and balance sheet activity explaining differences in account balances between periods. (5%)
  • Complete special projects as assigned by Manager with minimal supervision. (5%)
  • Support Canada’s sales and marketing finance group from an accounting perspective. (5%)
  • Backup support for US compensation and benefits accounting and US shared services accounting team. (5%)


Primary Outcomes:

  • Timely and accurate reporting of Canada’s financial statements.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of g/l account reconciliations.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of unclaimed property.




Position Requirements:



Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required



3+ years public accounting experience 


5+ years general ledger related accounting experience in the areas of Payroll Accounting and / or Unclaimed Property.

Specialized Technical Knowledge and Skills

Working knowledge of Oracle or SAP a plus.

CPA Preferred.

  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/quarter-end close process
  • Experience with regulatory filings and/or compliance experience is a plus
