Overview

 

 

The Senior Technical Owner is a member of the Patient Technologies Technical Owner Team and will manage definition, planning and execution of programs from early opportunities to final development. The Technical Owner will own the detailed Technical Product Requirements and use cases for related devices and interactions. The position will partner with the Digital Health Product Manager and Development departments (Engineering, QA, R&D, Regulatory, Medical and Design) to ensure that product vision is maintained throughout all stages of the development process as well as ensure schedule and budget are within target. The ideal candidate will have strong process and project management skills in addition to technical expertise in web, backend, and mobile services with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary cross functional teams.

 

Responsibilities

 

Coordinate, support, and execute various programs from initiation through completion.  Specific activities include:

 

 

  • Partner with the Digital Health Product Manager to establish the project – ensure the successful transfer of the Market Requirement Document (MRD) in Development.
  • Lead the Mobile Apps and Web products through the entire development life cycle
  • Coordinate internal resources and establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors for seamless project execution
  • Drive the development of products using Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Lead the definition and design of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and supporting technical feasibility
  • Plan resource project resources with supporting functions
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress, measuring appropriate variables
  • Work with Product, Engineering, UI/UX, & QA to identify and bring new concepts into consideration and flesh out ideal solutions – collaborate to finalize solution concepts that achieve product, user, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Create high level prioritized features document traced to the MRD and define current and future low-level product specifications with feature details, user flows, use cases, and user experience
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Prioritize defects, feature requests and other issues
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Make recommendations for difficult tradeoffs relating to product features and schedule
  • Stay up-to-date with the industry trends in order to design solutions that cater to current market needs and track various competitive and industry solutions that align with our vision
  • Be the strong liaison between Product Management and development to ensure a transparent and productive workflow environment
  • Continuously assess and improve the processes that comprise the software development lifecycle and mentor/coach other members of the Program Management and Quality Engineering teams.

Qualifications

Education Required:

 

A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.

 

Education Preferred:

 

Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field, and MBA

 

Experience Required:

 

  • 5+ years of software product management experience, preferably in app development and healthcare
  • Strong understanding of platform, web, and mobile app solutions
  • Ability to accept and implement ideas from others
  • Ability to stand your ground for solutions you think will benefit the team as a whole, and keep the development process moving forward in the right direction
  • Detail oriented and capable of leading or directly managing both an individual and a team
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary cross functional teams
  • Have experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Proven and successful track record with bringing a product and team from early stages to a finalized and polished product
  • Experience writing clear and concise yet comprehensive Product Requirements documents and other specifications in a regulated environment e.g. Medical Device
  • Hands-on experience with developing and reporting on metrics for engineering development, test development and execution, defects, issues, risks, and other aspects of project and program management
  • Experience in developing commercial software products
  • Outgoing, highly organized, persistent, and tenacious; able to deal with uncertainty and change.
  • Able to help others estimate content and amount of work by asking questions, analyzing data, and challenging assumptions to help clarify thinking, ensuring all work is included in the artifact.
  • Participate in formative testing on concepts (e.g. wireframes)
  • Drive summative testing activities to ensure product, quality, and compliance/regulatory requirements are met.

 

Experience Preferred:

 

  • Experience with sensor or medical device mobile apps, or products in the respiratory space
  • Experience with regulatory (FDA, CE), privacy (HIPAA), and security constraints and requirements
  • Experience in electro-mecanical device development
